Conceived through endless efforts of self determination and soul searching, studio59 is the brain child of one girl with big ambitions.
The concept is of a multi-faceted design company and brand name that covers many realms of the design world but then also specializes in three key areas; visual art, handmade jewellery and graphic design. Upon the successful completion of her masters degree, studio59's design field will further expand into the architectural world.
As a not for profit company, studio59 aims to leave a lasting impression on the community through innovative, original, and delicate pieces of design that work in conjunction with the Japanese aesthetic of 'Wabi- Sabi'. All revenue received from designs sold will be placed directly into a building fund that shall be used to design and construct homes for those financially incapable- specifically high risk groups such as orphans and women in developing countries across the world.
studio59 is driven by love and acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic look of this company can be described as one of beauty that is imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete nurturing all that is authentic by acknowledging three simple realities: nothing lasts, nothing is finished, and nothing is perfect. There is also a strong emphasis on simplicity, lightness and transparency with designs striving to make a statement without drawing attention away from the individuals involved.

They say how you climb a mountain is more important than reaching the top; This is my process of becoming a designer.There will be coffee, tears, bad food and enough drawing to make your hands ache, but it has my heart so I’ll always be back to fall in love all over again. Topics on design, art, film, music, typography, photography and fashion will all be seen on this blog. Anything that showcases my quest for unique, contemporary projects and concepts as well as all my architecture and design inspiration.To me good design is one which incorporates, absorbs and relates to other forms of materials regardless of the field it belongs to. I admire work that first and foremost reflects the needs, aesthetics and life of the user followed by the expression of design expertise or techniques. I also love design processes that are very intensive and the forms; organic, simple and non intrusive to traditional styles.My personal approach to design is inclusive rather than an exclusive one. Through my design endeavors, I try to go beyond the expected; at times almost become one with it and be part of the process in totality. That way I can merge the boundaries between the designer and the user, until it is almost non existent.
